Private transfer from Interlaken to Zurich Airport (ZRH). Approx. 130 km, 1 hr 45 min. Fixed price, door-to-door. Book at interlakentransfers.ch.
A private transfer from Interlaken to Zurich Airport (ZRH) covers approximately 130 km and takes around 1 hour 45 minutes under normal conditions — making it the most common outbound transfer we operate for departing guests. For travellers who have spent time in Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen or Mürren, we collect from any address in the region and deliver directly to the ZRH Terminal departure level. One vehicle, door to check-in.
The route from Interlaken to Zurich Airport follows the A8 motorway west along Lake Thun, through the Bern area, and then the A1 north toward Zurich — the main Swiss motorway spine. The lakeside section from Interlaken to Thun is particularly scenic in clear weather. Your driver monitors traffic conditions and adjusts the departure time recommendation accordingly. We recommend allowing at least 2 hours 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time to account for Zurich city traffic and the terminal drop-off circuit.
InterlakenTransfers.ch collects from any address in Interlaken — Höheweg hotels, Interlaken West and Ost areas, Matten, Unterseen, Bönigen — as well as Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and for Wengen and Mürren, we co-ordinate the descent and meet you at Lauterbrunnen for the onward drive to ZRH.
At Zurich Airport, we drop off at the Terminal departure level for your airline. Your driver knows the ZRH terminal layout and will confirm the correct drop-off point for your flight. For early-morning flights, we offer pre-dawn pickups — first flights from Zurich typically depart from 06:00, requiring pickups from Interlaken as early as 03:30. We operate 24/7 with no surcharge for unsociable hours on our standard fixed price.
For groups of four or more with significant luggage — particularly ski season departures with equipment bags — the Business Van is the recommended vehicle. For larger groups (8–16 passengers), the Business Minibus ensures all passengers and luggage travel together without splitting into multiple vehicles.
Zurich Airport (ZRH) — officially Flughafen Zürich — is Switzerland's largest international airport, located 13 km north of Zurich city centre in the municipality of Kloten. It is one of Europe's premier hub airports, handling approximately 31 million passengers per year across 180+ destinations operated by around 60 airlines. Swiss International Air Lines (Swiss) uses Zurich as its primary hub. Other major carriers include United Airlines (direct New York JFK and Newark), Delta Air Lines (Atlanta), American Airlines (Philadelphia and Dallas), Air Canada (Toronto), Lufthansa, British Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Qatar Airways, Air India, and dozens of European carriers.
Zurich Airport has a single integrated terminal building divided into three concourses (A, B, and E — international), all connected airside and landside. International arrivals exit through passport control and customs into the central Arrivals Hall (Level 1) of the main building. Your InterlakenTransfers.ch driver waits in the Arrivals Hall with a clearly visible name board. There is no need to call or navigate — simply follow "Arrivals / Ankunft" signs after customs and you will see your driver.
Flight monitoring is included in every airport pickup. We track your flight in real time and adjust your driver's departure accordingly. Flight delays of up to 2 hours are accommodated at no extra charge — you are not penalised for delays outside your control. If your delay exceeds 2 hours, we contact you to confirm the revised pickup time. For very long delays or cancellations, we work with you to reschedule at no rebooking fee.
Zurich Airport facilities include a full range of services in the Arrivals zone: baggage trolleys (free), currency exchange (UBS and Thomas Cook), ATMs, a Starbucks, Marché restaurant, convenience pharmacy, and the Airport Shopping mall on the upper levels accessible before you exit. If you need to use a trolley for heavy luggage, your driver will assist bringing everything to the vehicle. The vehicle is parked in the designated professional pickup zone — typically a 2–4 minute walk from the Arrivals Hall exit.
Travel time from Zurich Airport to Interlaken is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes under normal conditions, via the A1 motorway southwest to Bern, then A6 south toward Thun and Spiez, then A8 east into the Bernese Oberland. Traffic around Zurich and Bern can extend this in peak hours (07:00–09:00 and 16:30–18:30 on weekdays). Your driver departs Lucerne well ahead of schedule to ensure on-time pickup regardless of traffic. To Grindelwald the journey is approximately 2 hours. To Lauterbrunnen approximately 2 hours. To Wengen and Mürren (to Lauterbrunnen station) approximately 2 hours.
Interlaken (567 m) sits on the flat alluvial plain between Lake Thun (Thunersee) to the west and Lake Brienz (Brienzersee) to the east — the name literally means "between the lakes." It is Switzerland's most-visited Alpine resort town, welcoming millions of visitors each year from every corner of the world. The permanent population of around 5,800 swells enormously during peak seasons: July and August bring summer hikers, paragliders and lake-swimmers; December through March brings skiers heading up to Grindelwald, Wengen and Mürren.
The visual heart of Interlaken is the Höheweg, the grand promenade lined with luxury hotels, restaurants and boutiques. At its eastern end, on a clear day, the three great peaks of the Bernese Oberland fill the skyline: Eiger (3,967 m), Mönch (4,107 m) and Jungfrau (4,158 m). This view — snow-capped giants above the green valley floor — is one of the most iconic in Switzerland and one of the reasons visitors return year after year.
Interlaken has two railway stations: Interlaken West (closest to the lake promenade and central hotels) and Interlaken Ost (East), from which the Bernese Oberland Railway (Berner Oberland-Bahn, BOB) departs for Grindelwald (22 min) and Lauterbrunnen (20 min). The Lauterbrunnen branch connects onward via cogwheel to Kleine Scheidegg and the Jungfraujoch — the "Top of Europe" at 3,454 m, the highest railway station in Europe. From Grindelwald, the Eiger Express cable car (opened 2020) reaches Eigergletscher station in under 15 minutes, cutting journey time to Jungfraujoch dramatically.
Adventure sports are central to Interlaken's identity. Paragliding with tandem pilots launches from Beatenberg and Niederhorn; the flight over both lakes and toward the Eiger is extraordinary. Skydiving at Interlaken airfield offers 4,000 m jumps with Alpine views. River rafting runs on the Lütschine and Simme rivers. Canyon swinging and canyoning operate from multiple gorges. In winter, the Harder Kulm funicular (1,322 m) gives panoramic views even in snowfall.
Accommodation spans every budget. The flagship Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa — opened in 1865 and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World — anchors the luxury end. The historic Lindner Grand Hotel Beau Rivage, the Metropole, and the Krebs Hotel are also well-established four-star properties. Dozens of boutique hotels, serviced apartments and hostels fill the gaps for every traveller type.
For dining, the Schuh restaurant on Höheweg has been a Interlaken institution since 1818 — famous for its chocolates and lakeside terrace. The covered Markthalle food hall offers Swiss and international food stalls. The Unterseen quarter across the Aare canal is the oldest part of the settlement, with 17th-century half-timbered houses, the historic Stadthaus, and quieter, more local restaurants away from the tourist centre.
Interlaken is also a shopping hub for the region. Jungfrau jewellery, Swiss watches, quality outdoor gear (Mammut, Bächli), and local artisan products are well-represented. The Wednesday and Saturday morning market on Marktplatz sells regional cheese, dried meats, fresh produce and crafts.
InterlakenTransfers.ch operates its own fleet — every vehicle is owned and maintained by us, not subcontracted to third-party operators. All vehicles are professionally maintained, regularly inspected to Swiss standards, and air-conditioned. We carry winter tyres from November through March, and snow chains for high-altitude routes. Vehicles are tracked in real time by our dispatch team throughout every journey.

We are not a broker or a booking platform that passes your reservation to a subcontractor. InterlakenTransfers.ch is a Swiss-based owner-operator: we own our vehicles, employ our drivers, and manage every booking directly. This means accountability — your booking confirmation is a direct commitment from us, not a pass-through to an unknown third party.
Book early. Private transfer capacity in the Jungfrau Region is limited relative to demand at peak times. July–August and the ski season (December–March, especially Christmas/New Year and Lauberhorn race week in January) are very busy periods. Booking 4–8 weeks in advance is standard; for peak weeks, 3–6 months is not too early.
Provide accurate flight details. For airport pickups, give us your full flight number (e.g. LX316, not just "Swiss") so we can monitor arrival times precisely. If your flight number changes or you rebook, update us immediately.
Luggage declaration. Please indicate the number and type of bags at booking — especially oversized items (ski bags, surfboards, golf bags, prams, bicycle cases). We will confirm the appropriate vehicle and arrange any special loading equipment.
Car-free village transfers (Wengen, Mürren, Zermatt). We drive you to the last road-accessible point (Lauterbrunnen station for Wengen and Mürren; Täsch for Zermatt) and assist with luggage to the cogwheel/cable car/shuttle platform. Plan at least 20–30 minutes for the mountain village connection. We can recommend timing to match your hotel check-in.
Winter driving. Our vehicles carry certified winter tyres from November 1 through March 31, with snow chains available for high-altitude mountain roads. We monitor road conditions (Brünig Pass, Susten Pass, Julier Pass, mountain approach roads) and will advise if weather affects timing. Swiss mountain roads are kept open year-round on main routes, but Alpine weather can cause short delays.
For groups larger than 8, bookings with special requirements, or multi-leg itineraries, contact us directly at bookings@interlakentransfers.ch.
